Gumball Tristopher Watterson (born Zach Tristopher Watterson) is a blue anthropomorphic cat in the eigth grade who is stated to be 12 years old. They* are most often depicted as wearing a beige sweater with brown accents on the sleeve cuffs and collar, as well as gray-blue pants with a beige trim on the bottom cuffs and an off-white belt buckle. However, some promotional art depicts them in a red-and-white latterman jacket over a white T-shirt that has a blue collar, as well as navy blue jeans and red shoes with white soles. Currently there is no information on the discrepancy.
*As of 5-8-2021, Gumball uses non-binary pronouns, such as "their" in the Mother's Day clipshow. All articles mentioning/referencing Gumball will use these pronouns until further notice.
In early seasons of the show, Gumball is characterized as a coward and a loser who is not that smart, but cares a lot about their loved ones. They aren't opposed to getting up to mischeif and pranks, which often result in wacky hijinks. In later seasons they would take on a more jaded and sarcastic personality, while still retaining the previous aspects mentioned. Several flaws would also be be added such as an inflated ego and greediness.
